Western Africa, Nigeria, Yoruba peoples, ca. mid 20th century CE. A fine, hand-carved wooden ceremonial staff depicting a pair of heads with almond eyes, prominent noses, full lips, scarification marks across cheeks and chin, and elaborately stylized coiffures with a large pair of ears shared between them. The handle is finely-detailed with a carved zigzag pattern, and the bottom pommel end is carved with fine vertical grooves as well. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 11.75" H (29.8 cm); 12.625" H (32.1 cm) on included custom stand.
