Description:

Native American, Southwest, Acoma, ca. mid 20th century CE. A lovely signed polychrome pottery vessel created by the Acoma of a rounded, seed jar form with a pair of turtles applied to the shoulders on opposite sides. The white body is beautifully decorated with painted stylized geometric motifs, in orange and black on a white ground. 'ACOMA N. Mex' and "S. Shutiva" is painted on the base. A stunning example created in the strongly recognized Acoma manner - hand-coiled, with hand-mixed clay and custom slip in traditional hues, so skillfully painted with impressively accurate lines and stylized geometric patterns! Size: 6.75" W x 5.125" H (17.1 cm x 13 cm)
