East Asia, China, late Qing Dynasty, reign of Empress Dowager Cixi (Tzu Hsi), ca. 1861 to 1908 CE. A finely-cast silvered brass miniature amulet depicting the Empress Dowager Cixi (also Tzu Hsi), the effective ruler of the Chinese government from 1861 CE until her death in 1908 CE. She is portrayed seated on an elaborate throne atop an integral ovoid platform and wears ornate garments beneath a flat-topped headdress. Size: 0.625" W x 0.95" H (1.6 cm x 2.4 cm).
