Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, Protoclassic period, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A hand-built pottery "pretty lady" figure standing upon delineated legs, with a portly (perhaps pregnant) abdomen, perky breasts, and attenuated arms. Bulging eyes with impressed pupils, a petite nose, and a slightly open mouth comprise her expressive countenance. She is adorned by discoid earspools, a choker with a medallion pendant, and a 'twisted' headband crowning her fringe of neatly-arranged bangs. Size: 2.875" H (7.3 cm); 3.625" H (9.2 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
