Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A solid hand-built petite pottery figure of a standing woman with circular earspools, necklace, a unique tiny headdress perched on one side, and applied eyes and nose. Incised lines create other details such as hair strands, fingers, and toes. A plait or braid hangs down the left shoulder. Traces of red and white pigment on the face and neck area suggest this piece was brightly painted with details at one time. Perhaps a votive piece that was used for burial, this figure is a lovely example of Michoacan pottery! Size: 1.75" W x 5" H (4.4 cm x 12.7 cm); 5.5" H (14 cm) on included custom stand.
