Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, Protoclassic period, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A hand-built pottery "pretty lady" figure with a highly-burnished surface. She stands upon delineated legs, has a portly abdomen, perky breasts, and attenuated arms, with a medallion hanging from a red-painted necklace strand around her neck. Impressed diamond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, a gaping mouth, and discoid ear spools with incised X-form decorations comprise her expressive countenance, and a zigzag-adorned fillet with traces of red and white pigment caps the top of her head above neatly-arranged bangs. Custom lucite display stand included. Size: 2.4" W x 4.3" H (6.1 cm x 10.9 cm); 5.75" H (14.6 cm) on included custom stand.
