Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A very decorative and unusual polychrome bowl on a petite foot from the Michoacan region of Mexico. While the exterior has a simple buff terracotta finish with a red rim, the interior is elaborately adorned with spiraled, star-like forms and geometric, pseudoglyph-like motifs. Size: 5" in diameter (12.7 cm) x 2-3/8"H (6 cm). Provenance: Ex-private Houston, TX collection acquired at auction or local gallery between 1982 and 1994.
