Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan area, ca. 1350 to 1521 CE. A hand-built and highly-burnished pottery bowl with a wide basin, tall walls, and a flared rim, all atop a trio of hollow nubbin legs. Each leg contains a small pottery ball which emits a rattling sound when jostled. The center of the basin boasts an incised circular grater panel surrounded by painted motifs in hues of vermilion and cream. The exterior of the vessel exhibits thick zigzag bands of white pigment adorned with several red horizontal streaks. Size: 8.25" W x 3.75" H (21 cm x 9.5 cm).
