Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero/Mezcala, ca. 700 to 200 BCE. This axe head is carved from green stone and, like many other Mezcala axe heads, has carving at the head and bottom to slightly suggest a standing human figure. Dimensions: 3-3/4" x 2" x 1-1/4". Provenance: Ex-private Mcdonald collection, Houston TX, acquired at local gallery or at auction between 1982 and 1994.
