Description:

** A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit The Fowler Museum at UCLA **

Latin America, Mexico, Oaxaca, ca. mid 20th century CE. Who doesn't love toys? A wonderful vintage wooden ferris wheel with eight swinging seats, each occupied by a smiling, male figure carved with a flat body and painted with black hair, black facial details on white skin, and red clothing. The wheel and base are embellished with a red stain. A crank with a cord still operates the wheel (though in a halted manner) so that in true Ferris fashion, the gondola cars pivot to keep those cheerful riders upright via gravity as the wheel turns. All is mounted upon a large, flat, rectangular base. Size: 23" L x 11.25" W x 25.5" H (58.4 cm x 28.6 cm x 64.8 cm)
