Description:

Latin America, Mexico, ca. 19th to mid-20th century CE. A collection of vintage sterling silver jewelry, including matching cufflinks, earrings, a tie pin, and three silver Milagro charms. The jewelry features a man dressed in a serape and sombrero, each is 92% to 94% silver. A notable detail on the earrings is a foot-shaped post where the figure is suspended from. The earrings have screw-back closures, ideal for unpierced ears. Each piece is stamped with the hallmark "HECHO EN MEXICO, 925, D.F.," and possibly "MTEZ HNOS," though some marks are slightly rubbed or obscured. Accompanying the jewelry are three Milagro charms, crafted in the form of a woman with hands resting on her waist. Each tested as 90% to 92% silver. Milagros, meaning "miracles," are religious folk charms traditionally used in Mexico and other regions with Spanish Colonial and Catholic influences for healing purposes and as votive offerings. Size of tie pin: 1.2" L x 0.8" W (3 cm x 2 cm); silver quality: 90% to 94%; total combined weight: 34.7 grams
