Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, ca. 3rd to 2nd millennium BCE. An mold-formed terracotta plaque of a rectangular form showing a charming relief scene of a large, left-facing cow in a walking pose with delineated legs, a raised head, a powerful body, and a bushy tail. Beneath the adult animal is a young calf attempting to feed from the udders of its mother. The zoomorphic presentation is covered in cream-hued slip and displayed within a raised border. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 4.875" W x 3.25" H (12.4 cm x 8.3 cm); 4.2" H (10.7 cm) on included custom stand.
