Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Jemdet Nasr period, ca. late 3rd to early 2nd BCE. An attractive trio of cylindrical stamp seal beads from the Jemdet Nasr period of ancient Mesopotamia. The first and longest is carved from black stone and features 3 horizontal bands of abstract linear and geometric designs. Next, the mid-size seal is formed from pottery and is incised with a lattice motif. The last and most petite of the group is carved from chalcedony and presents a series of anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figures seemingly arranged in a procession. Size of longest (black stone): 1.5" L x 0.2" W (3.8 cm x 0.5 cm); Size of thickest (pottery): 1" L x 0.5" W (2.5 cm x 1.3 cm)
