Description:

Ancient Near East, Sumeria or Babylon, ca. 2nd to 1st millennium BCE. A carved pendant, made of cow or other ungulate bone, with a curved form and a small horizontal piercing along its back for suspension. On the face, carved in relief inside a rectangular panel, is a series of three identical faces, each wearing a distinctive ziggurat-shaped piece of headgear common in Mesopotamian depictions of gods and kings. Size: 2" W x 1.1" H (5.1 cm x 2.8 cm); 2.05" H (5.2 cm) on included custom stand.
