Description:

Near East, Persia (Iran), ca. 10th to 15th century CE. An incised soft, very dark green stone, probably soapstone, set flat into a raised, octagonal bezel. The setting and ring itself are made of 20 karat gold. The setting has a delicate strand of gold wire around its midsection. On the face of the stone are what appear to be stylized Arabic characters and several stars, as if the letters are written in the night sky. US ring size 4.5. Size of face: 0.6" W (1.5 cm); 5.9 g.
