Description:

Medieval Middle East, Islamic world, ca. 11th to 16th century CE. A beautiful and well-preserved stamp of an octagonal form that is hand-carved from opaque, forest-green stone. The front of the stamp is incised with intricately curving Kufic script that is divided into an upper and lower section and perhaps gives the name of the owner. The tapered back surfaces suggest this can be inlaid within a ring setting or a pendant setting meant to adorn a necklace. Size: 0.8" W x 0.75" H (2 cm x 1.9 cm)
