Mexico, Mayan Territories, ca. 550 - 950 CE. This intriguing terracotta bowl is adorned with an ensemble of eight human visages all elaborately adorned with fanciful coiffures/headdresses and prominent ear ornaments. Also applied to the vessel are ceramic buttons ornamenting the rim and body. Traces of stucco remain on the body as well. 4-1/8"T x 6-1/2"D at widest. Provenance: Ex-M. Carini Collection, acquired at auction; Ex-Christian Rub Collection (Famous actor and voice of Mister Gepetto in Pinnochio); Ex-Joseph Henry Sharp Collection (Famous American Painter and "Spiritual Father" of the Taos Society of Artists) All items in this auction have been legally acquired, are legal to sell, and guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
