Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Mayan territories, Copador, ca. 600 to 900 CE. A hand-built round ritual bowl with a ribbed lower section and carinated walls, its exterior walls decorated with three canine figures, the interior with a repeated glyptic badge, all delineated in a beautiful polychrome palette of red, black, and orange. Copador pottery was manufactured at Copan and traded widely throughout the southern Maya region. By repeating certain forms and styles, the artisans creating bowls like this reinforced ceremonial ideas. A fascinating piece of Mayan pottery! Size: 7.125" W x 3.875" H (18.1 cm x 9.8 cm)
