Pre-Columbian, Honduras/El Salvador, Mayan Copador, ca. 550 to 900 CE. The exterior rim of this bowl features a register of four noble figures, possibly scribes, sitting against backrests holding their hands in a forward gesture. Elaborate headdresses and ear spools underscore their royal standing. Four stylized turkeys with red tail feathers and necks strut around the interior of the bowl dangling worms from their beaks. Size: 7-1/2" in diameter at rim x 3-3/8"H. Provenance: Ex P.
