Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 950 CE. A fabulous pendant, carved from mottled sage-green stone with light-brown and beige inclusions, with a biconically-drilled suspension loop on top. The pendant takes the form of an abstract avian head with a slender beak on the right side topped with an enormous single eye. Thick plumes of feathers adorn the head both within the curve of the beak as well as atop the rounded pate. Size: 0.875" W x 1.5" H (2.2 cm x 3.8 cm).
