Pre-Columbian, Mexico and northern Central America, Maya Territories, Late Classic, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A collection of dozens of greenstone and other colored stone and shell beads, centered on a large, black, diamond-shaped stone pendant. Many of the beads are carved with faces, facets, and other decorative details. These are strung on modern wire with solid sterling silver findings to make a wearable necklace. Length of necklace: 23" L (58.4 cm); size of pendant: 2.1" H (5.3 cm)

Provenance: private Boulder, Colorado, USA collection, acquired 2018 from a Pennsylvania, USA auction house, collected in mid-20th century
