Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Guatemala, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery vase with a planar base, a carinated lower body, and a cylindrical upper body surmounted by a flared rim. Stamped along the upper body just below the neck is a register of abstract wave-form pseudo-glyphs, and surrounding the lower body are a trio of abstract saurian creatures with gaping jaws, bared fangs, and scaly bodies. The orange-brown composition features a high level of polishing that creates an attractive luster. Size: 5.125" W x 8.25" H (13 cm x 21 cm)
