Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mayan territories, ca. 600 - 900 CE. This bold and attractive example depicts a band of glyphs below the outer rim, as well as two main iconographic scenes on opposing sides, separated by two elements interpreted to represent smoke and fire. The main iconographic scenes are prominent and complex, incorporating compound glyphic elements into the imagery. Although these depictions are of undetermined meaning, elements of K'in, Mat, Ahau and other glyphs can be interpreted in the scenes. A fascinating example worthy of further study and interpretation. Size: 6"H x 4-3/4"D.
