Pre-Columbian, Highlands (Chiapas, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador), Maya Late Classic Period, ca. 500 to 800 CE. An attractive pottery jar hand-painted with a band of bird-like creatures playing a ball game along the exterior walls. Boasting hues of black, orange, and red, the vessel presents a cylindrical body with tall walls rising to an annular rim over a deep basin, all supported by a planar base. Size: 5.5" Diameter x 3.8" H (14 cm x 9.7 cm)
