Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, Post Classic period, ca. 950 to 1200 CE. A hand-built plumbate pottery poison bottle in the shape of a roosting turkey. The creature displays incised wings and tail feathers as well as a narrow head with a pinched beak, and all is covered in a layer of clear glaze. Plumbate ware was probably made by a very small number of artisans around the Mexico/Guatemala border who then exported them throughout wider Mesoamerica. Size: 3.125" L x 2.7" W x 2.3" H (7.9 cm x 6.9 cm x 5.8 cm)
