Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Mayan Territories, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A striking greenstone pendant, hand-carved with the incised image of a standing lord or god, nicely complemented by natural, mottled hues of olive, moss, and sage. Elaborately adorned, the standing male figure wears a striated loincloth and an ornate headdress comprised of scrolling, glyph-like motifs. His veristic visage features heavy-lidded eyes, a broad nose, and bow-shaped lips, all flanked by a pair of prominent, annular earspools. A beaded necklaces hangs from his square shoulders as his short arms fall to either side. A suspension hole is laterally drilled through the top of the pendant, allowing it to be strung on a necklace and worn. A fabulous example of Mayan artistry! Size: 0.5" L x 2.3" W x 2.8" H (1.3 cm x 5.8 cm x 7.1 cm)
