Description:

Pre-Columbian, El Salvador, Maya, Copador, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A polychrome vessel presenting an attractive form with a dramatically corseted shoulder and dimpled sides. The exterior walls are decorated with repeated seated scribes in profile with carved repeating bands of glyphoids top and bottom. A very rare example of the Copador style. The rim is painted with deep red band as is characteristic of Maya Copador pottery. Copador pottery was manufactured at Copan and traded widely throughout the southern Maya region. This is a strong example, replete with intriguing iconography. Size: 6" W x 6" H (15.2 cm x 15.2 cm)
