Pre-Columbian, El Salvador, Maya, Copador type, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl of spherical form with a deep basin surrounded by a thick rim. Highly burnished and decorated with red, black, and light orange pigment, the bowl features solid red stripes along the rim and base as well as a trio of abstract, left-facing monkeys with extended arms along the exterior walls. Size: 7" Diameter x 4.625" H (17.8 cm x 11.7 cm)

Provenance: Private Reinsmoen collection, Clear Lake, Iowa, acquired through descent from Robert Anderson, acquired prior to 2000
