Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya to Aztec period, ca. 200 BCE to 1400 CE. A collection of 18 knapped tools and blades made primarily of chert and quartzite. Three slender drill or awl tips, and the rest could have served as hand tools or been hafted to wood / bone handles for a variety of tasks or as ritualistic items. The quartz blade may have been a special piece due to its semi-translucent quality that would have been prized for the seemingly magical sheerness. Size of largest: 4.125" L x 1.75" W (10.5 cm x 4.4 cm); case: 12" L x 8" W (30.5 cm x 20.3 cm)
