Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A fine pair of matched dolls with interior bodies formed from wrapped reed fibers and fibrous arms and legs wrapped with tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) threads in orange and pink hues. The simple light-brown dresses are cinched at the waist with a brown-and-white belt. Each elongated head boasts concentric diamond-shaped eyes, a rectangular mouth with two white teeth, slender noses, and lengthy coiffures wrapped with elegant headbands. Size of each (both are relatively similar): 5.25" W x 11" H (13.3 cm x 27.9 cm).
