Pre-Columbian, South America, Colombia, Narino, ca. 500 to 1000 CE. An ENORMOUS classic "bullet" style handbuilt amphora finished with beautiful black-on-red negative-resist stylized geometric motifs upon the long neck and bullet formed bottom with black and red horizontal linear bands framing a vertically fretted beige and black band at the shoulder and complementary black and red bands adorning the flared neck. Among the largest and most beautiful we have seen. Wooden tripod stand. Size: 11" in diameter x 32" H (27.9 cm x 81.3 cm); 36.25" H (92.1 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Lower section of vessel repaired from about 12 large pieces. 5" section of rim reattached. Expected surface wear with scuffs/abrasions and normal fading to original pigmentation and negative resist decoration commensurate with age. Nice earthen and mineral deposits on surface.
