Alaska, United States, Late Pleistocene, ca. 40,000 to 10,000 BCE. Huge tip of a mammoth tusk of the genus Mammuthus primigenius (Woolly mammoth). This comes off a huge mammoth bull that could have stood upwards of 11 feet high at the shoulders and weighed as much as 6 tons. Found in Alaska - where these are much more rare and much finer than the examples coming from Siberia - and showing a nice creamy white appearance with traces of the very desirable blue hue. Custom stand. Size: 32" L (81.3 cm) and over 14" in circumference! Weighs 20.5 pounds.
