Central Asia, Bactria-Margiana (BMAC) (Oxus Civilization), ca. 1st millennium BCE. A massive ancient bead, ovoid in form, with a raised center and tapered edges and pierced through vertically for suspension. It was hand carved and smoothed from a piece of creamy white agate with incredible bands of orange, chocolate brown, and salmon pink visible on its surface. Size: 1.6" W x 3.8" H (4.1 cm x 9.7 cm)

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection; ex-Khan family collection, New Jersey, USA, 1980s
