Description:

Ancient Near East, Northern Iran and Southeastern Turkey, Marlik, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A cast-bronze dagger exhibiting a thick shoulder, a stocky handle with raised ringlets, and a concave lunate pommel with parallel exterior bands. The triangular blade features a raised midrib, sharpened edges, and a pointed tip suitable for stabbing and piercing rather than slashing. Thick layers of brown and green patina have formed across its surfaces. Size: 14.125" L x 1.875" W (35.9 cm x 4.8 cm)

  • Condition: Professional repair and restoration to pommel peripheries, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Encrustations and chipping to blade, with softening to some ringlets on handle, chipping to lunate pommel, and light earthen deposits. Nice patina throughout.
