Mark Klett (American, b. 1952). Three "Desert Citizens" gelatin silver prints: Nos. "27", "43," and "45." Publisher's print 3/3. All hand-signed with number in series and "PP 3/3" beneath image. A splendid trio of gelatin silver prints from the series "Desert Citizens" by American photographer Mark Klett, each capturing a living or dead saguaro cactus from top to bottom. The plants are each shown from a similar distance in a style the artist describes as "saguaro portraits." When describing his interest in saguaro cacti, Klett writes: "They are magnificent plants, and walking among them gives a sense that they have a presence that is undeniably human. For centuries people native to the desert have considered saguaros to be the souls of lost ancestors." Size of photo (all the same): 15" W x 19.25" H (38.1 cm x 48.9 cm); of each sheet: 19" W x 24" H (48.3 cm x 61 cm)
