Description:

North America, United States, Ohio, Devonian, ca. 416 million years ago; New York, Herkimer County, ca. 500 million of years ago; North Africa, Morocco, Jurassic, ca. 199.6 million years ago. A collection of 5 fascinating pieces of natural history: 3 marine fossils, a Herkimer quartz, and a piece of amber. The trilobite is prepared partially enrolled - the lower body segments folding inward toward the head as a defense to protect the soft underbelly - much like modern day pill bugs. The Echinoid is a prehistoric species of sea urchin that has a domed aboral side and flattened bottom, with 5 petaloid patterns radiating from the apex. The last marine fossil is a brachiopod shell that is fully excavated with areas of glimmering pyrite across the exterior. The polished amber nugget contains 2 ants and a spider within the matrix. The Herkimer is special type of quartz that is naturally faceted, which is why it is nicknamed "Herkimer diamond," their natural clarity, double terminal points, and faces make them a rarity! Size of brachiopod: 2" L x 1.75" W (5.1 cm x 4.4 cm)

Trilobite has excellent preservation to eye lobes and segmented body. Echinoid has surface abrasions and chips, but overall surface pores and patterning are preserved. Herkimer quartz is intact with nice clarity.
