Pre-Columbian, Argentina or Chile, Mapuche culture, ca. 1200 to 1800 CE. A slender, hand-carved stone pipe intended for shamanic use. It has a rectangular body with a circular receptacle, a petite conical mouthpiece, and a lobed finger rest extending from a tab-shaped frontal protrusion. A small area between the mouthpiece and receptacle displays an incised crosshatch pattern, giving it a personalized presentation. The stone displays mottled areas of light and dark-brown coloration. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 5.875" L x 0.75" H (14.9 cm x 1.9 cm); 2.5" H (6.4 cm) on included custom stand.
