Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Java, Majapahit Empire, ca. 1293 to 1527 CE. A beautiful example of a mold-formed terracotta woman shown kneeling and holding a large vase. She is dressed with a tight skirt and waistband, large bangles around her wrists, and a twisted necklace above voluptuous breasts. Her downward facing head has an elegant profile and boasts almond-shaped eyes, a triangular nose, puffy cheeks flanking full lips, and huge earspools beneath a tiered, incised coiffure. Size: 3.3" W x 7.9" H (8.4 cm x 20.1 cm).
