Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A cast-bronze axe head of impressive form bearing a quartet of protruding nodules along the verso of the socketing shaft. The neck tapers to a sufficient thickness before flattening out to form the trapezoidal blade head, the edge of which still retaining a good form with some relatively sharp areas. Size: 6.5" L x 1.3" W x 2.2" H (16.5 cm x 3.3 cm x 5.6 cm)
