Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A set of 2 bladed artifacts, one a tinned bronze axe head and the other a copper hoe. The axe head features a vertical blade that emanates from a cylindrical socketing shaft, and the hoe features a wide blade and an unusual diamond-shaped socketing shaft. Size of largest (hoe): 5.625" L x 3.6" W (14.3 cm x 9.1 cm)

Provenance: private Everett, Massachusetts, USA collection, purchased June 27, 2017 (smaller axe) and June 21, 2020 (larger axe); (smaller axe): ex-Christopher Martin collection, London, UK; (larger axe): ex-private New York, New York, USA collection
