Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A cast-copper dagger with a slender tang and an elongated triangular blade with a shallow midrib, sharpened edges, and a pointed tip. The tang is covered on both sides with modern, form-fitting panels - carved from cow bone or that of another ungulate - that provide for a smooth yet ample gripping surface. Size: 1" W x 12.5" H (2.5 cm x 31.8 cm); Size of blade: 8.375" H (21.3 cm)
