Description:

Ancient Near East, Luristan, ca. 1000 BCE. An impressive pair of bronze weapons from ancient Luristan: a dagger and a short sword blade. Larger of the 2, the dagger features and everted blade, a flat shoulder and a hilt with an undulating silhouette and crescent-shaped pommel. Alternatively, the short sword blade shows a raised and flared shoulder with a tab-form tang for attaching to the hilt, as well a convex blade edge and a prominent mid-rib. Size of larger sword: 12.5" L x 1.25" W (31.8 cm x 3.2 cm)

  • Condition: Loss to handle on one blade as shown, but tang rivet is still intact. Chips to blade and mineral encrustation on guard. Chips and abrasions to other blade, otherwise intact. Surface has been polished recently but still retains some of the light green patina.
