Description:

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A fine bronze spear tip with a slender tang and an elongated petaloid blade with a thick midrib. The sharpened edges taper gradually to form the pointed tip. Spear tips like this example were inserted into the ends of long wooden rods and used as formidable weapons on ancient battlefields. Size: 15.125" L x 1.625" W (38.4 cm x 4.1 cm)
