Description:

Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran and Southeastern Turkey, Luristan culture, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A cast-bronze spear tip of sizable form with a thick tang, a penannular guard, and a triangular blade with sharpened edges and a thick midrib. Intricate linear motifs are displayed on the tang to imbue the weapon with a personalized presentation, and thick layers of green and brown patina have formed across its surfaces over time. Size: 20.1" L x 2.7" W (51.1 cm x 6.9 cm)

  • Condition: Blade reattached to shoulder, with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Abrasions and nicks commensurate with age, with slight bending to blade, softening and encrustations to finer details on handle, and original wooden pole missing as shown. Great patina throughout.
