Description:

Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran and Southeastern Turkey, Luristan culture, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A bronze short sword formed via the lost wax (cire perdue) technique with a slender handle and a hemispherical pommel. The lengthy blade bears sharpened edges, a thick midrib that tapers until the midsection, and a sharpened point, all emanating from a semicircular hand guard with an abstract zoomorphic head on each terminal. Thick layers of green and brown patina have formed across the weapon. Size: 21.375" L x 1.8" W (54.3 cm x 4.6 cm)

  • Condition: Repaired from multiple pieces with chipping, grinding marks, and light adhesive residue visible. Ground-down areas visible on blade shoulder and near blade tip, with abrasions and wear across most areas. Nice patina throughout.
