Description:

Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran to Southeastern Turkey, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A forged-bronze short sword with a petite ear pommel. The openwork handle faces were intended to hold perishable inlays via its folded flanges. The elongated blade bears a slender midrib, sharpened edges, and a rounded tip. Fine layers of green and brown patina cover the entire weapon. Size: 14.8" L x 1.2" W (37.6 cm x 3 cm)

  • Condition: Pommel reattached to handle in modern times. Tear to one handle inlay flange, with very slight bending to blade profile, and light earthen deposits. Great patina throughout.
