Description:

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan culture, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A beautiful cast-bronze short sword with an openwork handle and pommel meant to house inlaid panels of stone or bone. The tang functions as the top section of the sword handle and protrudes from above a broad, V-shaped guard. The triangular blade features a tapered profile with a prominent midrib, sharpened edges, and a pointed tip that was perhaps utilized more for stabbing rather than slashing attacks. Size: 1.875" W x 16.8" H (4.8 cm x 42.7 cm); 17.6" H (44.7 cm) on included custom stand.
