Description:

Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A cast-bronze short sword presenting a lengthy blade and a recessed handle cavity. The handle cavity was intended for holding inlays that were comfortable to grip while still acting as a functional part of the weapon for the soldier. Layers of green and brown patina have formed across the surfaces from millennia of wear and environmental exposure. Size: 20.1" L x 1.8" W (51.1 cm x 4.6 cm)

  • Condition: Small nicks and chips to blade, with light earthen deposits and encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Great patina throughout.
