Description:

Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran and Southeastern Turkey, Luristan culture, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A forged-bronze short sword with an elongated petaloid blade bearing sharpened edges, a shallow midrib, and a pointed tip. Lunate guards wrap around the shoulder of the blade, and the openwork hilt creates a wondrous form that was perhaps filled with colorful materials or petite weights. Russet, brown, and green patina envelopes the entire armament. Size: 18.875" L x 1.875" W (47.9 cm x 4.8 cm)
