Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 600 BCE; Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A set of 3 cast-bronze zoomorphic creatures, 2 from ancient Luristan and 1 from the Roman Empire. The Luristan rabbit and horse stand atop integral plinths with 4 slender legs - the rabbit with backswept ears - and the Roman lamb lays recumbent atop its plump belly. Size of largest (Luristan horse): 1.65" L x 0.9" W x 1.4" H (4.2 cm x 2.3 cm x 3.6 cm); 1.9" H (4.8 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Charlotte, North Carolina, USA collection; ex-Joel Malter collection, prior to 2004
